Artworks with Texture

Each artwork here is unusual - unique - in that it is crafted through the meticulous manipulation of the fibres of simple cheesecloth, sometimes with the addition of painted fabric, resulting in intricate texture and compelling imagery.

In memory of dr. jane

I have admired Jane Goodall my entire adult life, from first reading In the Shadow of Man up to The Book of Hope. I paid homage to her in this 2011 artwork, Memories of Gombe, and had the honour of meeting her at the 25th anniversary of the International Crane Foundation. My favourite quote of hers is at the bottom of the imaginary journal to the left of her portrait:

“Only if we understand, will we care.

Only if we care, will we help.

Only if we help shall all be saved.”
